Hi, I’m Shelley
I’m an Arkansas girl who lives in Wisconsin with my family.
I have a love affair going with the people in this photo.
And good books, coffee and Swedish fish.
I grew up in a pretty charmed situation…small town girl, parents married forever, lots of good influence. Sunday’s found my family at the local Baptist Church and as a teen most of my social life revolved around the same. During college, I was aware that God intended me for ministry but when I fell in love with an engineer instead of a preacher boy, I put that on the back burner.
It was a windy road, but God used my years as a stay at home mom with 4 kids born in 5 quick years to equip me to work first as a nursery / preschool director and finally as women’s minister at my church. I discovered that my salesman’s personality and love of people served me well in that role. This spring however, I resigned that position to focus more on my family. Again the road seems to be twisting, but I know that the years of raising kids happen faster than we can imagine.
I also developed another love.
Somewhere between college and today, I learned to love God’s word. Books are my favorite thing, and I love to read, but I discovered something different about this book. It changed me. It spoke to me of things I didn’t even know I need to hear. It gave me wisdom, bolstered my courage and opened my eyes. It introduced me to the very heart of God.
When I was a young momma trekking through Walmart or the mall, I would often hear people say “wow, you’ve got a full plate!” And it’s true, I do. God has graciously created me to be a able to handle much at once. This blog is my place to share the things I am learning about life, about God and about how He wants us to live.
